Our 90x90 Tatami is a Japanese mat, used for floor covering, doubling as a perfect base for futon mattresses.

✔️ It comes with a long tradition that continues to this day. Once found on the floor of every Japanese home, now it is a must-have in at least one of the rooms.

✔️ The tatami mat makes a great finishing touch in rooms used for sleeping, exercise or meditation.

✔️ The pleasant, delicate smell of hay has an extra relaxing effect and lends any interior a calm and cosy feel. It takes its name from the rice straw, covered with fine braided Igusa grass, from which the tatami is made. An all-natural product, it must not be kept in a very warm or humid room to ensure that its properties are preserved for as long as possible.

Composition::

✔ The outer surface of the mat is made of braided natural Igusa grass.

✔ The inside of the mat is made of rice straw. The natural long stalks of rice grass are subject to drying at high temperatures and then pressed under high pressure. No chemicals are used in the whole process. Thus made, the compressed board forms the core of the mat.

✔ The longitudinal edges are trimmed with cotton fabric sealing the mat edges.

Usage:

✔ Use the Tatami in dry and ventilated areas to avoid mould growth.

✔ To remove any excess moisture in the mat, expose it to sunlight on a bright day for airing and drying.

✔ You can easily keep the mat clean by wiping it gently with a damp cloth along the weave. Please make sure that no dirt can get inside, and the mat, once freshened, is dry before further use. You can also use a vacuum cleaner, but be sure to apply a low negative pressure.

✔ Keep sharp tools such as a knife or scissors away from the Tatami mat.
