Thick Futon Mattress - More Substantial Everyday Comfort
A thick futon mattress with a 22 cm profile offers a fuller and more substantial sleeping surface than thinner FutonLove models. This height is characteristic of the Comfort collection, which is designed primarily for regular bedroom use. Depending on the model, the internal construction may combine cotton batting with latex, coconut fibre, or wool to create different levels of firmness and responsiveness.
High-Profile Mattress - Designed for the Bedroom
A high-profile mattress from the FutonLove Comfort range is intended for stationary use on a suitable bed frame or tatami base. Its 22 cm height gives it a more substantial presence than Slim or Medium models and makes it a good option for people who prefer a thicker sleeping surface for everyday use.
22 cm Futon - Everyday Comfort in a Thicker Format
A 22 cm futon combines the structured character of a futon mattress with a thicker, more layered construction. It is designed for regular bedroom use and offers a different feel from thinner, more flexible futons. Because of its height and internal structure, it is not intended for frequent rolling, sofa folding, or S-shaped configurations.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Is a 22 cm futon mattress suitable for everyday sleeping?
-
Yes. FutonLove 22 cm mattresses belong to the Comfort collection and are designed primarily for regular bedroom use. Their thicker construction provides a more substantial sleeping surface than 8 cm, 14 cm, or 18 cm models. The final feel depends on the specific materials and firmness of the selected version.
-
What type of base is suitable for a thick futon mattress?
-
A stable, supportive, and ventilated base is recommended. Closely spaced wooden slats or a suitable tatami mat can provide even support while allowing airflow underneath the mattress. Permanently placing the mattress directly on an unventilated floor is not recommended.
-
What materials are used in 22 cm FutonLove mattresses?
-
The exact composition depends on the model. FutonLove 22 cm Comfort mattresses may include cotton batting, latex, coconut fibre, or wool. Each material influences the overall feel differently: latex adds responsiveness, coconut fibre increases rigidity, and cotton creates the characteristic structured futon feel.
-
How should I care for a 22 cm futon mattress?
-
Regular airing and turning help the mattress wear more evenly. Rotate it from head to foot and turn it top to bottom periodically according to the care instructions for the selected model. Comfort mattresses should not be rolled. Keep the mattress dry and use low-power vacuuming for routine surface cleaning.
-
Can a 22 cm futon work in a small bedroom?
-
Yes, provided the mattress dimensions match the bed frame and available space. The 22 cm profile is higher and more substantial than thinner futon models, so it can create a more pronounced visual presence. Pairing it with a low-profile bed frame can help maintain a minimalist look in a smaller bedroom.
-
How is a 22 cm futon different from thinner models?
-
The main difference is its thicker, more substantial construction and intended use. Compared with the 8 cm Travel or 14 cm Slim ranges, a 22 cm Comfort mattress is designed for stationary bedroom use rather than portability or frequent folding. It also provides more depth than the 18 cm Medium collection, although the actual firmness and responsiveness depend on the internal materials.
